Lindsey Vonn is someone with numerous talents, having won Olympic gold, collected over 30 downhill victories, and claimed the women’s record for World Cup wins. She’s proven to be an able Today Show correspondent and she can even pretend to like a sport (golf) that’s universally considered the dullest when a certain ex of hers isn’t playing.

However, despite those impressive accomplishments, this weekend she learned a valuable lesson: Never try breaking up a fight between two dogs over a toy. It won’t end well.

The Olympic gold winner suffered a gruesome thumb injury when she tried to break up a tussle between her two dogs, who were fighting over a Frisbee.

Warning: The footage is pretty gross.

Vonn seems to have been bitten with the injury bug over the last few years. She’s suffered multiple injuries to her ACL, which caused her to miss the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. In August, she suffered a broken ankle while training for the competitive ski season. Luckily, unlike those previous injuries to Vonn, it doesn’t appear this one will sideline her for any significant time.

Let this be a lesson to all: Don’t try breaking up a fight between two dogs. No matter how much they love you, they will bite you and it will hurt.
