Radford Upset Georgetown Thanks To This Three-Pointer With Under A Second To Go

College basketball season started up on Friday and it has been an absolutely insane first 24 hours of the season.

Along with the major upset of Western Illinois beating 1th-ranked Wisconsin at the Kohl Center, William and Mary beat NC State comfortably, Monmouth went into Pauley Pavilion and knocked off UCLA, Belmont beat Marquette, Sacramento State won against Arizona State, Illinois was bested by North Florida, and Chattanooga overcame Georgia in overtime.

On Saturday, the trend of mid-majors knocking off power six teams continued as Georgetown welcomed in Radford out of the Big South into the Verizon Center.

After fighting back to get the game into overtime and then playing through an additional five minutes where the score remained tied, Georgetown had a one point lead with under eight seconds to go in double OT, and all they had to do was get one more stop to secure the victory. Unfortunately for them, Radford’s Rashaun Davis had other ideas, as he took the ball the length of the court, pulled up at the three point line and hit the game-winning three in D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera’s eye with under a second to go.

Some people wait until March to pay attention to college basketball, but they have no idea what they’re missing.
