This Steelers Fake Field Goal Was The Most Laughable Trick Play Since The Colts’ Fake Punt

On a day where we saw perhaps the worst onside kick in NFL history, we also now have a candidate for the worst fake field goal in NFL history, too.

The Steelers lined up for a field goal in the first half of their game against the Seahawks, only to shift out of it and have backup quarterback Landry Jones take the snap, roll to his right and try to throw across his body to an offensive lineman.

In a stunning turn of events, that plan failed miserably. The pass was easily picked off by the Seahawks’ Jeremy Lane, who returned it to the Pittsburgh 25-yard-line before tripping over himself and spoiling what probably should have been a pick-six to make this whole sequence even funnier.

You would think the Steelers would have learned something from the Colts about running trick special teams plays, but I guess not. The NFL is great and dumb.
