TCU was firmly the playoff mix until last week when they fell to fellow undefeated Oklahoma State, but they still had an outside chance of sneaking in should they win out and get lots of help. However, TCU’s path of even making it to a BCS bowl game may have just gotten infinitely tougher, as they could be without senior quarterback and potential Heisman Trophy nominee Trevone Boykin.

It’s unclear exactly when Boykin suffered the injury against Kansas, but it might have been on one of these two plays.

TCU still has two games to go with other top Big 12 teams, as they face Oklahoma on the road and Baylor at home to close out the season. They may now have to play those games without Boykin as the estimated recovery time for a high ankle sprain is 4-6 weeks.

Boykin has over 3,300 yards passing and 37 total touchdowns for TCU this season with a passing efficiency rating of 167.8.

In case you question just how important Boykin is to Gary Patterson’s squad, after Boykin left the game against the Jayhawks the TCU offense, which was averaging 46.7 points per-game, sputtered and well into the third quarter the Horned Frogs were tied with winless Kansas at 10-10.
