See Five Of The Best First Round Knockouts In UFC History

In anticipation of the quickly approaching UFC 194 megacard, the UFC has just put out this video touting the best first round knockouts by fighters on the PPV card. And there’s a lot of big names there: Conor McGregor, Jose Aldo, Chris Weidman, Luke Rockhold, and Jacare Souza are all fighting on December 12th.

The UFC had a lot of KOs to choose from with these guys – so much so that lesser known knockout artists like Max Holloway and Jeremy Stephens got left out. They’ll be fighting each other in a match that will probably result in its own epic first round finish, so at least we have that. My personal favorite from this list: Jose Aldo’s massive knee to the face of Chad Mendes with one second left in the first round.

That’s just one of two knockouts Aldo has scored in the past five years. Proof he’s still got it, but a far cry from the 15 finishes in 19 fights he amassed from 2005 to 2010. Conor McGregor has played off that heavily in the lead-up to their fight by saying things like “In the jungle, when a king gets old, a young gorilla comes up and takes everything he owns.”

Will Conor take out the pound for pound great? Or is the UFC going to see its two biggest stars in Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor go down in the span of a month?
