Cam Newton Slowed Up At The Goal Line And Paid For It By Taking A Massive Hit To The Head

Cam Newton tried to run the ball in against the Saints but seemed to slow up as he approached the goal line, like he could stroll it in. This time, that trademark Cam Newton coolness cost the Carolina quarterback, as linebacker Michael Mauti hit Newton hard at the one and seemingly right in the helmet.

No flag was thrown on the play for targeting, however, and while Cam stayed down for a minute, he eventually got up and finished off the drive with a touchdown pass to Ted Ginn.

After heading back to the sideline, trainers took Newton to the locker room, presumably for a concussion test. The starter was back out by the Panthers’ next possession, indicating that he likely avoided a head injury.

Of course, that’s what everyone thought about Case Keenum too.
