A Skate To The Face Is As Painful As It Sounds, Yet This Hockey Player Returned To The Game

The Washington Capitals are at Nassau Coliseum for Game 4 of their first round series with the Islanders, and we’ve already had a scary moment. In the first period, defenseman Brooks Orpik was forced to leave the game after getting hit in the face by a teammate’s skate.

Hockey fans always catch their breath when a player hits the ice in traffic, because the blades on every player’s foot are ideally kept as far away from exposed skin as possible, and when they come too close, awful, disgusting things happen.

Amazingly, Orpik’s cut wasn’t too bad (or Orpik is that tough/crazy/hockey player), because he was back on the ice in the second period.
