Do Baseball Players Drink Beer During Games? A.J. Pierzynski Says They Do.

Braves catcher A.J. Pierzynski is well-known around baseball for many things. Notably, he’s known for reaching base after a “dropped” third strike late in Game 2 of the 2005 ALCS, but also for getting punched in the face by Michael Barrett during a Cubs-White Sox game in 2006. Perhaps most of all, he’s known for being regarded as the most hated player in all of baseball. It’s a reputation he’s spent 17 years building in a career that began all the way back in 1998.

However, after the video above, he’ll now be known for something more fun and lighthearted… like the fact that he drinks beers during games.

Pierzynski joined Katie Nolan on Fox Sports’ Garbage Time, and admitted he’s been known to toss back a few “rally beers” from time to time. “Sometimes, you’re in the 15th inning of a game, and you’re six hours in, and one of the starting pitchers is 12 beers in, and you’re like, ‘Man, I’m really jealous of this guy over here.’ And then the next thing you know, they’re like ‘RALLY BEERS!'”

It’s not clear how successful a rally beer is in relation to a rally cap, but it’s easy to assume it’s a lot more fun.
