San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith is in trouble with the law yet again in Santa Clara, and it’s another DUI for the troubled, but talented player. His arrest was first reported by ABC’s Matt Keller:

As the screenshot of the inmate report shows, Smith was taken into custody early Friday morning, and his bail is set at $26,000. Soon after Keller tweeted, the Santa Clara Police Department issued a statement of its own detailing the charges:

This is not Smith’s first time in trouble with the law, as he’s been arrested four other times, twice for DUI. To get a third DUI, and for that also to involve endangering other people in a hit-and-run, is reflective of a man with a serious problem.

In 2013, Smith took a leave of absence from the 49ers to enter a treatment facility for addiction, and he was suspended nine games in 2014 for violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy. One has to assume that Roger Goodell will discipline Smith over this incident, which will likely make this the third season in a row in which Smith will miss significant time due to his problems with substance abuse, and his inability to stop getting behind the wheel of vehicles while intoxicated.
