Alterraun Verner Broke Down After Picking Off A Pass In Memory Of His Father

Alterraun Verner has had a rough couple of years after signing a big free agent deal for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he’s been having himself a game on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. Making it all the more meaningful is the fact that just two days before the game, Verner’s father passed away. Verner said he would play the game “in remembrance.”

That’s why when Verner picked off Russell Wilson, he couldn’t contain his emotions and broke down weeping. All around him, teammates gathered to congratulate him and give him support as his head swirled with a heady mix of emotions. He was still feeling it on the sideline afterwards:

Our condolences to Verner, and our congratulations for making a big play under incredibly difficult circumstances.
