Watch Arkansas Tech Score A TD While Honoring A Fallen Teammate With 10 Men On The Field

Tragedy struck the Arkansas Tech football program earlier this year, when junior defensive lineman Zemaric Holt passed away in July. The 21-year-old Holt, who compiled 29 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks in 18 career games, drowned at an Arkansas recreation area.

Unsurprisingly, his team wanted to come up with some way to honor its fallen teammate during its first game of the year on Thursday, and the result was a defensive touchdown on the first play of the game.

The Wonder Boys’ defense decided to only go with three down linemen during their game against Southern Nazarene, which decided to get fancy and run some weird double reverse type play that failed miserably. It wasn’t the worst idea in the world, considering the defense only had 10 men on the field, but it could not have gone any worse for the Crimson Storm.

An Arkansas Tech player got right into the backfield to assist in SNU botching the play. Wonder Boys linebacker Nick Akins picked up the ball right as it was rolling into the end zone and started the team’s season off with a bang. The game turned into a blowout, as Arkansas Tech scored 52 consecutive points en route to a 62-14 victory, but this was the perfect way to kick things off while honoring a fallen teammate.
