This 75-Year-Old Golfer From Australia Is Way Too Calm For Someone Who Was Just Attacked By A Crocodile

John Lahiff, 75, was enjoying a nice round of golf at Palmer Sea Reef course in Port Douglas, Queensland recently when one of his shots landed just shy of a pond. Without realizing there was a crocodile sunbathing off the edge of it, he calmly retrieved his ball, completely oblivious that he had just infringed on the large beast’s personal space.

The problem, though, is when this happens, perhaps because of having all those teeth and no toothbrush, reptiles of this nature tend to get ornery and lash out. So, as he was walking away, the crocodile attacked his leg.

He realized afterwards he should have been more aware of his surroundings.

“I didn’t see [the crocodile sunbathing] just on the edge of the water,” said Lahiff. “I walked past it and then it got me on the way back and as soon as it grabbed me it took off into the water…I think he got more of a fright than me. He’s alright.”

After the bite, Lahiff managed to drive himself back to the clubhouse to get help, then gave an interview from the hospital like it was no big deal. It was just another day in the life of a golfer from Australia.
