It’s been an emotional week for Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner. On Thursday, it was announced that Griner’s wife, Tulsa Shock forward Glory Johnson, will miss the entire 2015 season because she is pregnant. Johnson announced the news in a press release and a series of photos on her Instagram:

One day later, Griner filed papers to annul their marriage, according to People Magazine. The 2014 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year told People that the pair agreed to split up last week, a claim that Johnson’s sports marketing agent told TMZ “blindsided” her. Griner also said that she attempted to postpone the couple’s May 8th wedding several times until she completed counseling, and called her decision to not wait “a mistake.”
Griner and Johnson made headlines when the two were arrested for suspicion of assault and disorderly conduct due to a domestic incident back in April. After entering a guilty plea, Griner entered a domestic violence diversion program on April 28, and the two tied the knot 10 days later.
