Bryce Harper Is Also The MVP Of Mispronouncing ‘Memes’

Bryce Harper unanimously won his first NL MVP award on Thursday, capping off an unbelievable season in which he hit .330 with 42 HRs and 99 RBI. Harper went on the late night edition of SportsCenter to have a chat with Scott Van Pelt, who asked the Nationals outfielder a variety of questions.

SVP’s final question may have been the toughest one, as he asked Harper — blessed with a great head of hair — if he would rather be bald or sacrifice a ton of power in the batter’s box. Predictably, Harper said if he had to choose, he would be bald, but more interesting than the answer itself was Harper’s pronunciation of the word “meme.”

While trying to explain that he didn’t want to become a meme (pronounced ‘meem’) by saying he’d rather be bald, Harper butchered the word, calling it a “may may.” As you’d probably expect, this sent the internet into a frenzy.

It would seem that Harper is too busy crushing dingers and throwing fists with Jonathan Papelbon to concern himself with being a good millennial. Unfortunately for him, that pronunciation was so terrible that I had to go ahead and make him bald.
