This Ferocious Hit Set The Tone For The Islanders-Lightning Series

The Islanders and Lightning opened up their second round series in Tampa on Wednesday night, and it didn’t take too long for the physical tone to be set.

Early in the first period, Islanders forward Casey Cizikas tossed the Lightning’s Erik Condra into the corner boards with a huge hit. Condra flew through the air before crashing hard to the ice and seemingly smacking his head hard off the ice or boards, leaving him in a serious daze.

I’m not a doctor, but his reaction sure looked like it could be indicative of a concussion. After remaining on the ice for a few minutes, Condra had to be helped off the ice for further evaluation.

To Cizikas’ credit, the hit seemed to be clean and was not penalized.
