Of Course Miesha Tate Beat Ronda Rousey In The EA Sports UFC Cover Tournament

Last Wednesday, in a post about how the UFC and EA were allowing fans to vote for the fighter that would join Jon Jones on the cover of the upcoming UFC video game, I wrote:

Obviously, this is a wonderful chance for us UFC fans to do some serious vote trolling. For example, just the thought of Miesha Tate winning her first round match with Ronda Rousey is hilarious, because on no planet in this or any other universe or dimension does Tate deserve to win. But thanks to democracy… she can.

Sure enough, the UFC posted the first round results yesterday, and we know two things to be true: 1) This thing isn’t rigged, and 2) UFC fans have a delightful collective sense of humor. Tate did, in fact, beat Ronda Rousey in their first round matchup, as the woman who is 0-1 in the UFC and 0-1 against Rousey in the actual fighting aspect of her career simply hammered her Twitter followers to keep voting, while Rousey Tweeted far less passionately about it.

And while I’m not the kind of guy who typically likes to stir the pot after the meal has already been served, I can’t help but think that this Tweet was essentially Rousey’s response to the first round loss.

Movie star Rousey ain’t need your video games.

Second round voting conveniently ends on Nov. 17, in case you want to wait to see the result of the main event title fight between Georges St-Pierre and Johny Hendricks to choose between them. Otherwise, go ahead and get your votes in for Tate and Chael Sonnen so this thing continues to be a circus.
