Former Baltimore Orioles outfielder Delmon Young was arrested at a hotel in Miami on Sunday night on assault charges when he allegedly choked and hurled racist remarks at an elevator attendant. The police report, obtained by Deadspin, lays out a detailed account of Young’s abuse and belligerence.

Young tried to gain access to a dance club at the Viceroy Miami hotel, but when the elevator attendant told him the club was closed, Young responded, “Stupid Cuban. Open the f*cking door. I’m here. Now what?” Young then walked away, only to return almost immediately and threaten the man’s life.

[Victim] again told him he could not open the door and the defendant responded, “I’m gonna f*cking kill you, you Latin piece of sh*t.” The defendant then reached over the valet podium where [victim] was standing and grabbed him around his neck with both hands. [Victim] stated that he continued to strangle him for approximately 5 to 6 seconds before [victim] was able to peel the defendant’s fingers from his neck. The defendant then fled the area towards the rear tower where he resides.

When police arrived at Young’s room, they encountered Young in a compromised position:

I knocked on the door and the defendant responded naked from his waist down. I asked the defendant to clothe himself and provide identification. The defendant was unsteady on his feet and spoke with slurred speech. […] The defendant is known to hotel security and was identified by [victim] on scene as the subject who choked him. While on scene the defendant was belligerent. He stated to me, “I’ll slap you in the face with money, you f*cking Cuban.”

This is not the first time Delmon Young has been arrested for violence and bigoted remarks, either. Back in 2012, Young was charged with a hate crime in New York City for assaulting and hurling anti-Semitic remarks at a Jewish man, which he pleaded down to aggravated harassment. Young is 30 years old and hasn’t been more than a replacement-level player or worse since 2010, so with his latest incident of awful behavior, it’s looking unlikely that he’ll ever play in the MLB again.
