Derrick Lewis traveled to Croatia at UFC Fight Night 86 knowing that Gabriel Gonzaga was his toughest test yet, and he stepped up to the plate to avenge his hero Mirco Cro Cop with an incredibly violent knockout that juggled the skull of the jiu jitsu ace.
The fight started with Gonzaga putting on the most pressure, tangling up Lewis and neutralizing his strikes by clinching and putting “The Black Beast” against the cage. But, as the round wore on, Lewis was able to create some distance and utterly destroyed Gonzaga with a brilliant combination.

Lewis continues to be one of the most fun fighters to watch in the UFC with a kill or be killed attitude and way of fighting. He has 15 wins with 14 knockouts and 1 submission, proving that he’s a skilled finisher that everyone has to now take seriously in the wide-open UFC heavyweight division. He’s clearly shown that he can handle the bigger fighters, but where does he go from here? He called out Roy Nelson, and that fight certainly makes sense.
