The Lions Lost Because Calvin Johnson Fumbled On The Edge Of The End Zone

If you’re not a fan of the Detroit Lions, the team is extremely entertaining because you know that something is eventually going to go wrong in a glorious, cringeworthy fashion. If you are a fan, the team is the worst for the exact same reason.

That occurred during Monday’s game between the Lions and the Seattle Seahawks. The scene: Detroit entered the fourth quarter down 13-3 and didn’t look like it was going to get anything against Seattle’s stout defense. The team managed to score a touchdown to make it a three-point game and got the ball back with enough time for one final drive starting at its nine yard line.

Everything looked like it was going great – the team marched down the field and had the ball in Seattle’s red zone. Matt Stafford dropped back, saw Calvin Johnson, fired in a pass, and Megatron was off to the races. He dove for the end zone, when suddenly, Detroit happened and Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor punched the ball out of his hand. There was a fair amount of controversy, as Seattle’s K.J. Wright knocked the ball out of the back of the end zone and it should have been Detroit’s ball on the goal line, but it went uncalled.

Seattle got the ball back, ran out the clock, and moved to 2-2 on the season with a 13-10 win. As for Detroit, it fell to 0-4 with the loss.
