Does This Audio Prove An NFL Executive Promised Adrian Peterson A Two-Game Suspension?

On Friday afternoon, Adrian Peterson lost his appeal for reinstatement following a year-long suspension for child abuse charges. Now, three days later, his legal team’s fighting back. In audio obtained by ABC News, NFL executive Troy Vincent appears to tell Peterson he will receive a two-game suspension in a phone call that reportedly takes place on November 12th. Six days later, Goodell drops the hammer on Peterson with an indefinite suspension.

Adrian Peterson
: “I get two games?”
Troy Vincent: “Yeah.”
Adrian Peterson: “It will be two additional games not time served?”
Troy Vincent: “No no no no no no, it wont…the one this weekend. So really, it’s just next week and you’re rolling. You’re back”

Was there a promise made? Outside looking in, it appears Vincent stops just short of using those words. But there’s an insinuation there. An insinuation that if Peterson complies and “goes through the process,” this will all be behind him.

You can expect to hear more about this today as the NFL Players Union appeals Peterson’s suspension in federal court.
