The Chargers Reportedly Fined Eric Weddle For The Most Heartless Reason

For all intents and purposes it appears Eric Weddle’s time with the San Diego Chargers is over. The hard hitting safety with the huge beard has been a fan favorite for years but the souring relationship with the organization appears to have hit a new low a few weeks ago when he was fined for the most ridiculous reason possible.

According to Weddle’s agent the team fined him $10,000 for staying on the field during halftime of the Chargers Week 15 game against the Miami Dolphins to watch his daughter perform a dance routine.

Chargers head coach Mike McCoy later confirmed the fine and the reasoning, saying it was “an organizational call.”

Weddle was pulled out of the Chargers latest game against the Raiders on Christmas Eve at halftime for what was announced as a groin injury. The injury is another point of contention as the Chargers have placed Weddle on injured reserve, ending his season, against his wishes. Not only that but according to Weddle’s agent he also won’t be allowed to travel with the team to their final game in Denver this weekend either because the team plane is apparently too small.

At this point it’s all but assumed Weddle will leave the team in the offseason after spending the first eight years of his career in San Diego.
