Ezekiel Elliott Gave Cowboys Fans A Brief Glimpse Of His Talents With This Thunderous Run

We’re precious weeks away from the start of football season, which means we’re also knee-deep in preseason football. The best part of preseason — and, some might say, the only good part of it — is the first glimpse by fans to see what rookies can do, and no rookie comes into 2016 with more immediate excitement than Ezekiel Elliott. He was the fourth overall pick, but the two quarterbacks picked ahead of him will start the season on the bench where they belong and third pick Joey Bosa is still unsigned by the San Diego Chargers. That leaves Elliott as the biggest attraction of the preseason, and boy did he deliver in a big way on Thursday night.

Above is a video of Kam Chancellor, possibly the hardest-hitting safety in the NFL, meeting Elliott in the middle of a rushing lane, loading up to deliver a “Welcome to the league, rookie”-style punishing hit. Zeke sees it coming, lowers his shoulder to gain leverage, absorbs the hit and spins away, leaving Kam the one a little dazed. It’s stirring stuff, to be sure, and it even made an impression on Dez Bryant watching at home:

Now, if Tony Romo can just stay upright for a few weeks, the Cowboys might really have something.
