Floyd Mayweather Bought A $3.5 Million Car, And Is Anything Really Worth That Much?

Lavish spender and “retired” boxer Floyd Mayweather bought a new 2015 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. Most of you have no idea what that is and, to be fair, neither do I. But it costs a lot of money. It is by all accounts the fastest street-legal car in the world and, according to Floyd, cost $3,498,000.

When Forbes continually lists you as the highest-paid athlete, you can get away with purchases like this. Actually, check that, you can’t. This is a ridiculous waste of money. There’s no justifying it. Ever.

I don’t care how fast it is, or how pretty it looks. Nope. Forget it.

That being said, and for you gear heads out there, here are some of the specifics on speed from the Bugatti website:

Cylinder capacity 7 993 cm³
Power output 736 kW ( 1 001 HP) at 6 000 rpm
Max. torque 1 250 Nm at 2 200-5 500 rpm
Gearbox 7-speed DSG
Top speed 407 km/h

ACCELERATION
0 – 100 km/h >2.7 sec 0 – 100 km/h
0 – 200 km/h 7.3 sec 0 – 200 km/h
0 – 300 km/h 16.7 sec 0 – 300 km/h

Surprisingly, this isn’t Floyd’s most expensive car purchase. In 2014, he bought a Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita supercar for $4.8 Million. He obviously spends his money wisely. Obviously.

Here are some other vehicles in Mayweather’s repertoire.

The man likes his cars.
