Except for adolescent memories of Happy Gilmore — then-unburdened by what would become of Adam Sandler‘s film career — golf has always seemed like a calm and uneventful sport. At least, that was until Australian golfer Robert Allenby was reportedly drugged, kidnapped, beaten, and robbed while in Hawaii:

Allenby reportedly signed his check at the Amuse Wine Bar at 10:48 p.m. local time, and surveillance footage showed him leaving the parking lot minutes later with a group of five or six people.

According to the [Australian Associated Press], Allenby believes he may have been drugged by the suspects at the bar.

“I didn’t think I was going to survive this one,” Allenby told the AAP. “I was separated from my friend in the bar after we paid the tab at 10:48 p.m. and he went to the bathroom, and next thing you know I’m being dumped in a park miles away.” (Via Golf Channel)

No word on whether the authorities have any suspects lined up. Meanwhile, like the bad*ss Australian he is, Allenby is staying in Honolulu. Why? Because he might play in another golf tournament, that’s why.
