Greg Hardy Doesn’t Care About Your Panthers Helmet, But Will Give You $100

Greg Hardy still harbors some bad blood against his former team, the Carolina Panthers, for distancing themselves from him when he was charged with domestic assault (the gall!). Now he’s found a home with the Dallas Cowboys, who couldn’t care less if Hardy’s a dangerous menace as long as he produces on the field.

In his capacity as a “leader” with the Cowboys, Hardy was at the Omni Hotel signing autographs and meeting fans on Monday night, when one of them handed him a toy Panthers helmet. Hardy refused to sign.

As much as some would want to portray this as another strike against Hardy’s character, it’s really not so bad. It’s awfully strange of a stated Cowboys fan to bring a symbol of Hardy’s former team to get signed, but at least he didn’t go home-empty handed. He signed Kraken on a $100 bill, saying, “That’s for the fans, man. You got to show love.”

Sure, I guess giving someone money out of your wallet is one way of showing love. It can come off as sort of a callous or out-of-touch gesture, but the fan put the pressure on Hardy when he didn’t bring anything Cowboys-related to the event. Just a strange exchange all around.
