This Insane High School Football Game Ended With A Final Score Of 107-90

Try to imagine the craziest shootout that you’ve ever seen on the football field. Odds are, it was some 63-56 college game where both teams had 600+ yards of total offense.

Two Pennsylvania high school teams – Meadville and DuBois – laughed at the usual definition of a “shootout” and decided to have the most defense-optional game that you’ll ever see. Meadville took down DuBois by a score of 107-90, the two teams combined to score 28 touchdowns and accumulated 1,827 yards of total offense. There were also two state records set by DuBois’ quarterback and Meadville’s running back, according to The Meadville Tribune:

For DuBois, it was sophomore quarterback Matt Miller. He completed 29 passes on 50 attempts for 741 yards and 10 touchdowns.
That 741 yards is a new single-game record in the state of Pennsylvania, surpassing the 594 yards thrown by Brockway’s Derek Buganza in 2009.
For Meadville, it was junior halfback Journey Brown, who carried the ball 30 times for 722 yards and 10 touchdowns.
That yardage total is also a new state record, besting the 500-yard performance by Eastern York’s Alex Cooley in 2012.

From a yards per play standpoint, Miller averaged almost 15 yards per pass and Brown averaged about 24 yards per rush. Miller threw two fewer touchdowns in this game than Christian Hackenberg, who plays college football about 75 minutes away at Penn State, threw all of last season.

No matter what lens you look through when you try to understand what happened in this game, it’s completely insane, and we all hope that the film of the game shows up somewhere on the Internet so we can watch with popcorn in tow.
