This High School Team Advanced To The State Final After A Wild Steal And Half-Court Buzzer Beater

The Burke Bulldogs girls high-school basketball team hosted a semifinal playoff game against the Estill Fighting Gators in Charleston, South Carolina on Monday, and the two teams went back and forth in an evenly matched contest throughout. But afterwards, all anyone could talk about was the incredible finish.

With only seconds remaining, Estill had possession and a 2-point lead. But after in-bounding the ball, a Burke player immediately stole it and heaved a desperation shot from well beyond the mid-court line right as the buzzer sounded. The ball eventually found the bottom of the nylon, giving the Bulldogs a 46-45 victory.

Afterwards, fans stormed the court. And who could blame them? The incredible finish punched their team’s ticket to the state championship game. Then on Tuesday morning, they were featured on SportsCenter. Next stop, Hollywood.
