Illinois Named The Top Party School In America By The Princeton Review

College football rankings are pretty useless up until, like, week seven of the season. Rankings of the best party schools in the country, however, are useless always. There really isn’t a great way to quantify the quality of partying at a major university, but that doesn’t stop The Princeton Review from putting out a list every year of the best party schools in America.

This year’s top party school, according to the publication and its odd way of compiling a list, is the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Good for Illinois! The Princeton Review was extra fond of its Greek life, amount of liquor consumed, and amount of beer consumed, as the Illini came in second, third, and fifth place in those categories, respectively. The entire top-20 looks like this:

  1. Illinois
  2. Iowa
  3. Wisconsin
  4. Bucknell
  5. Syracuse
  6. UC-Santa Barbara
  7. West Virginia
  8. Georgia
  9. Tulane
  10. Colgate
  11. Lehigh
  12. Mississippi
  13. Penn State
  14. Florida
  15. Florida State
  16. Ohio
  17. DePauw
  18. Vermont
  19. Miami (OH)
  20. College of Charleston

The first thought that pops into my mind when I read this list is that, if you are a 17-year-old who wants to go to a school that will greatly increase your chances of developing cirrhosis of the liver by the time you’re 20, you should apparently go to a school in the Big Ten. Also, I went to high school 20 minutes away from Bucknell, and I think the craziest thing I ever saw there was a Taco Bell that had an all-you-can-eat KFC buffet in it, which was cool as heck, but certainly does not justify a spot in the top-5 of these rankings.

If you’re wondering how this list is made, it’s pretty simple – basically, there are voluntary surveys that students at universities all over America fill out. And if you wonder what the list of the most sober schools in America looks like, the top three is BYU-College of the Ozarks-Wheaton.

This is sports.
