Jeremiah Ratliff has had a fairly long career, but at age 34, it looks like it’s probably over, whether he wants it that way or not. Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears have to be breathing a sigh of relief that Ratliff is finally out of their lives, if the latest TMZ report about Ratliff’s reaction to being cut is true.

Apparently, the day Ratliff was let go (Oct. 21), he came back to the buildings to gather his belongings, but mentioned to a staffer he “felt like killing everybody in the building,” according to the police report. He returned once again that day, even angrier than before, and the report claims he told Bears employees “I am the devil” and “he wished staff members’ children would die.” Security was called to escort Ratliff from the building, and the police stayed until all the staff had left that day.

Those are the kind of specific threats that are never to be taken lightly, and the Bears took precautionary measures by warning the Cowboys, who released Ratliff during the 2013 season, that Ratliff had been cut. Ratliff has reportedly made no attempts to contact the Cowboys.

Even though Greg Hardy is still somehow employed, when a player responds to being cut by threatening to kill families, you can bet he’s played his last down in the NFL. Remember — this is the guy who Marc Trestman named captain last year after a violent incident.
