Johnny Manziel’s Lawyer Accidentally Texted The AP Concerns About Their Client

Things have not been going well for Johnny Manziel. He’s facing a lot of legal issues, and he is currently involved in a domestic abuse case. Now, even his lawyers are complicating things further for him, as his defense attorney Bob Hinton accidentally sent a text message to the Associated Press indicating that he is concerned about Manziel’s ability to stay clean.

The texts indicate, according to the AP, that Manziel’s legal team is seeking a plea bargain in this domestic violence case, which stems from an incident with Manziel and his then-girlfriend Colleen Crowley. However, they are worried that he may still be struggling with substance abuse, more than a year after leaving a rehab center. The money quote, as it were, was Hinton writing, “Heaven help us if one of the conditions is to pee in a bottle.”

While one is left to wonder why, exactly, a bottle would be used in a drug test, the overarching concern does not sound good for Manziel. There are also some reports, mentioned in the texts, that Manziel spent over $1,000 on drug paraphernalia 15 hours after being involved in a hit-and-run. Overall, the ugly story of the fall of Johnny Manziel doesn’t seem like it is getting any better anytime soon. Also, we can all learn a lesson from this: Make sure you know who you’re texting.
