A Rising MMA Star’s Career Is Over After A Car Accident Cost Him His Leg

Featherweight Jordan Parsons was one of Bellator’s rising stars, but now he is fighting for his life after a tragic hit-and-run accident in Florida on Sunday morning.

The incident reportedly occurred when Parsons was walking home in Delray Beach where he was hit by a motor vehicle that left him with a partially amputated right leg. According to an Instagram post from Parsons’ Blackzillans teammate Rashad Evans, he is also in a coma.

Bellator released the following statement following Parsons’ accident:

Bellator has been informed of a terrible accident that occurred last night involving featherweight fighter Jordan Parsons, who was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident. We are still in the process of uncovering details and with his family’s consent, hope to have an update on his medical condition soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jordan and his family as he recovers.

The hit-and-run occurred on Lindell Boulevard and South Federal Highway in Delray Beach, Florida. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Delray Beach Police Department at (561) 243-7800.

Parsons had an 11-2 overall MMA record including a 2-1 mark in Bellator. He handed Julio Cesar his surprising first defeat in May of last year and was scheduled to face Adam Piccolotti on May 14 in San Jose.
