The Patriots were driving late in the second quarter trying to break a 10-10 tie with the Jets when Tom Brady found Julian Edelman for a short gain. Unfortunately for Edelman, he had no way of seeing Jets cornerback Buster Skrine coming, and he turned right into this absolute massive hit.
Unlike many hits of this magnitude, Skrine’s hit was actually totally legal since he led with his shoulder and not his helmet. To Edelman’s credit, however, he hung on to the ball and bounced right back up.
Unfortunately for the Pats, Edelman took the hit for nothing, as the completion was called back due to a holding call.
