Ken Shamrock May Be The World’s Fittest 51-Year-Old Man

UFC recently announced a groundbreaking change in the way they’d be drug testing their fighters: The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency would be taking over and randomly pulling blood and urine samples from every fighter an average of five times a year. But everywhere else in the mixed martial arts world, it continues to consist of one urine test on the weekend of the fight.

On a completely unrelated note, let’s look at a recent picture that Ken Shamrock put up on Twitter, showing the 51-year-old in amazing shape leading up to his Bellator MMA fight. Accusing the guy of using steroids when he hasn’t failed a test seems unfair, but I will point out that he has tested positive for steroids in the past and has admitted to using PEDs during his career.

But who knows for sure what’s going on here. Could he just be eating a super clean diet, working his ass off in the gym, and taking every legal supplement to boost his body’s natural ability to get ripped? It would be nice to think so, but without proper testing to determine what’s going on during his camp, we have no way to know. Considering the well-established PED problem that led UFC to its current intense drug testing regiment, it’s easy to be cynical.

Shamrock and his action figure physique are set to face backyard brawl star Kimbo Slice on June 19 at Bellator 138. It’s a freakshow fight of old school Japanese fight proportions, and Ken’s suspicious musculature just adds to the carnival feel of it all. Are you excited for this fight, or is this match a stain on the integrity of mixed martial arts?
