Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant was one of two celebs appearing in a new TV spot for “Call Of Duty: Black Ops.” The commercial is quite awesome and kept me intrigued right up until the tagline hit the screen, reading, “There is a soldier in all of us.” Bryant appears holding an M-16 with an attached grenade launcher. Bryant fires and misses, but that’s okay, because he takes like 30 shots a game. This commercial is terrific, and while some NBA followers will take issue with Bryant being portrayed in a violent light, I can’t help but appreciate the elements of fun and inclusiveness that Kobe’s few seconds onscreen deliver to the ad.
Not pictured in the ad was Pao Gasol and Andrew Bynum carrying Kobe’s team to victory. The full commercial is after the jump. I bought COD: Modern Warefare 1 about a month ago and I couldn’t put it down, and this is probably the most excited I’ve been for a video game launch since “Madden NFL 2005.” Also making cameos in the commercial are a random husky girl with a shotgun and a guy in a paper hat going all Chow Yun Fat in the middle of a field. Don’t do that in the game, kids. That’s just begging for a headshot. via Ehrl the Pearl.
