This Fan Found A Way To Make Running Onto The Field Even Dumber

It’s not all too uncommon to see fans hop the wall and run on the field at a baseball game for a quick thrill, but rarely does one come as close to interfering with play as this fan did at Sunday’s Mariners-Cardinals game.

During the fifth inning, Matt Carpenter hit a fly ball to left field in the direction of a man who decided to make his way onto the field and run toward the infield. In doing so, he almost interfered with left fielder Seth Smith. Thankfully, Smith was still able to make the catch and not let the rogue fan potentially affect the outcome of the game.

Here’s another look at how close it was:

Though he was swiftly tackled by a security guard without putting up much of a fight (and presumably spent the night in jail), you’ve gotta give some credit to this moron for the timing of his stupidity. He certainly maximized his brief shine in the spotlight by picking the absolute perfect pitch to jump on the field for, if that counts for anything.

Maybe he should try utilizing that kind of luck for something more productive, like playing the lottery or literally anything other than this.
