Metallica Shredded The National Anthem At The Stanley Cup Final

The San Jose Sharks headed into Monday night’s Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final looking to play with enough mettle to tie up the series at two games apiece. To do that, they started off with a little metal.

Metallica lead singer James Hetfield and guitarist Kirk Hammett were on hand to perform the Star-Spangled Banner during the pregame festivities at SAP Center on Monday night. Both Hetfield and Hammett are longtime Sharks fans dating back to when the team moved to the Bay Area in the early ’90s, and the team has previously embraced the band by holding a “Metallica Night.”

With that in mind, it was a pretty natural fit to follow up the team’s first ever Cup Final victory with a performance from a few of their most well known musical fans. But will it help spark the Sharks?
