This Oklahoma 19-yard Field Goal Attempt Might Be The Worst Kick Of The Year

Oklahoma kicker Michael Hunnicutt came into Saturday’s game with Kansas State as the program’s scoring leader and an ultra-reliable kicker. He’s only missed one field goal on the season and zero point-after attempts.

Well Saturday became one to forget for Hunnicutt, as he left seven points on the board for the Sooners. His problems began at the end of the second half when he hooked a field goal wide at the close of the first half. In the fourth quarter after an OU touchdown, he saw a PAT block, which left the Sooners trailing the Wildcats by a point with over ten minutes left in the game.

Hunnicutt thought he had a redemption shot late in the fourth when he lined up for a 19-yard field goal to give the Sooners the lead with just under four minutes left. He hooked his attempt again, which can be seen above ad infinitum. The Wildcats would get the ball back and run out the clock for the victory.

Someone in Norman needs an R.E.M. album and a hug tonight.
