Pregame Cow-Milking Contests Are Taking Over Major League Baseball

Did you know that June is National Dairy Month? Well, if you didn’t, Major League Baseball is doing everything it can to change that.

Apparently, MLB takes their dairy very seriously, as not one but two games on Friday night featured a pregame cow-milking contest. The first took in place in Texas, where Rangers reliever Ross Ohlendorf went head-to-head (or utter-to-utter?) with Red Sox starter Wade Miley.

Ohlendorf, a Texas native, and Miley, a good ol’ Louisiana boy, both clearly had some experience with the art of milking growing up, but Ohlendorf – owner of his own longhorn farm – managed to come out on top. The margin of victory was small, but it looks like Ohlendorf also had to battle his cow’s untimely bowel movements.

Not to be outdone, the Angels and Tigers held a Dairy Night of their own in Anaheim, where Halos outfielder Alfredo Marte out-milked Tigers pitcher Alex Wilson.

I think I speak for everyone when I say that baseball – and sports in general – needs more cow-milking contests.
