During the introductions for Monday night’s NLDS game between the New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers, Mets fans gave Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley a piece of their mind. Utley, of course, was suspended for breaking New York infielder Ruben Tejada’s leg on an illegal slide, but because he decided to appeal the decision, he is allowed to play tonight at Citi Field.
As you can tell from the video above, Mets fans booed Utley. And they booed. And then they continued booing. In fact, Mets fans were so vocal that the Dodgers’ introductions actually had to stop for a little because they wouldn’t stop booing Utley.

The good news for Utley – and for the poor guy who was trying to do his job and introduce the teams – was that the booing did eventually stop. The bad news is that “not booing” doesn’t necessarily mean that the fans were quiet, as they started chanting “Utley sucks” during the rest of the Dodgers’ intros.
And now the rest of the Dodgers intros are being drowned out by "UTLEY SUCKS! UTLEY SUCKS!"

It will be interesting to see if Utley is used at all during the two games in Queens. He is out of the starting lineup tonight with Howie Kendrick taking his place, but if Utley does get a chance at the plate, it’ll be fun to see if Mets fans can break the world record for the longest uninterrupted booing of one person.
