Nolan Ryan Beating Up Robin Ventura As Stop-Motion Action Figures Is Mesmerizing

Yesterday marked the 23rd anniversary of Nolan Ryan beating the crap out of Robin Ventura, so we are probably at a point where there are no longer any new ways to present this information. Ryan plunks Ventura. Ventura charges the mound. Ryan gets Ventura in a headlock and pounds on him. We all laugh because it’s funny.

Thanks to a pioneering person, we now have the above video that features the Starting Lineup dolls of Ryan and Ventura fighting in a stop-motion video with the play-by-play of Hawk Harrelson laid over it. It’s not exactly Vin Scully’s call of Game 6 of the 1986 World Series on top of a meticulously redone RBI Baseball game, but it’s good.

Now that 23 years have passed since the brawl, here are some ways to reboot Ryan-Ventura to make it more relevant today:

  • Have Dave Franco (Ryan) fight Zac Efron (Ventura).
  • It’s the same fight, only it stars two women instead of men.
  • Make Ryan and Ventura into Legos.
  • A prequel with a backstory that reveals why there was animosity between Ryan and Ventura. Ansel Elgort will play young Ventura and Ed Harris will play young Ryan.
  • We make it into a TV show where Ryan and Ventura are neighbors and each episode ends with Ryan beating up Ventura over something.

Hey, it could work.
