The Refs Inexplicably Said Odell Beckham Caught A Pass That Bounced Off Of The Ground

Sometimes when officials make a mistake during a football game, you can understand why they’d make a bad call for a number of different reasons. This is not one of those times.

Eli Manning threw a pass to Odell Beckham that very blatantly bounced off of the ground. This is something that happens all the time, and even though Beckham did a good job pretending that he caught it between his legs, no one can objectively look at this and go “yeah that should be a catch.”

But instead of calling it an incomplete pass, the ref close to the play said that Beckham hauled this one in. It made no sense, because even though the NFL’s inability to define a catch has haunted it for years, in no way, shape, or form was this one a catch. Even Joe Buck had to ask how the officiating crew would miss something so obvious.

It was so inexplicably bad, and under no circumstances should this have been considered a catch. But hey, NFL refs will NFL ref. Maybe Beckham is so good that the officials will just assume that any ball thrown in his general direction was caught successfully.
