Check Out Ohio State’s First All-Black Football Uniform

Despite their close call against Indiana in Bloomington on Saturday, the Ohio State Buckeyes still appear to be on cruise control towards an eventual spot in the College Football Playoff. With that in mind, Nike unveiled the first-ever all-black uniforms for the Buckeyes during the game, which they’ll wear for their Saturday night date against Penn State on October 17th.

The beautiful alternates keep the traditional scarlet and gray front and center, with scarlet numbers outlined by a ribbon of gray. It’s a nice nod to the past from Nike, who are partnered with Ohio State and their athletics department through 2018. Along with the chance to wear (and sell) new uniforms, the deal gives the Buckeyes over $4 million for their entire athletic department each year of the contract.

Nike also pays the school $10,000 when they win a national football championship and $5,000 for a conference championship, money well spent for a team that won it all last year and is favored to do so again this year. And if the Buckeyes make it to the playoff as expected, we’re thinking you’ll see quite a few new jerseys being bought for Buckeye fans during the holiday season this year.
