Oscar Pistorius Found Not Guilty Of Premeditated Murder

The judge in the Oscar Pistorius murder trial cleared the “Blade Runner” of premeditated murder early Thursday. Reports NBC News:

The judge delivering the verdict in the murder trial of Oscar Pistorius called the paralympian a “very poor witness” but said there was not enough evidence to prove the double-amputees actions were premeditated.

“The state has not proved beyond reasonable doubt that the accused is guilty of premeditated murder,” said Judge Thokozile Masipa, calling the evidence circumstantial. “There are not enough facts.”

Pistorius is accused of shooting through the bathroom door in his home and murdering his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine’s Day last year. Premeditation is off the table, but the judge could still find Pistorius guilty of the lesser charge of culpable murder, which is similar to a manslaughter charge in America.
