The ‘NHL 16’ Cover Will Feature Both Jonathan Toews And Patrick Kane

Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane keep winning Stanley Cups, and EA Sports keeps rewarding them with cover spots on their video games.

During the NHL Awards in Las Vegas on Wednesday night, it was announced that both Blackhawks stars will be featured on the cover of the upcoming NHL 16 release. Not only is it the first time in franchise history that the cover will feature two teammates, but it also marks the first appearance of the Stanley Cup.

Both players have previously earned the honors individually – Kane graced the cover for NHL 10 while Toews was featured on the front of NHL 11 – and they’ll be the first athletes to make multiple appearances.

As for the cover itself, it features an on-ice photo snapped during the Blackhawks’ celebration immediately after defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning for Chicago’s third Stanley Cup in just six years. It’s a bit of a cheesy look, but it fits with the game’s “Play Together. Win Together” tagline.

Either way, the cover choice might be tough to stomach for those who are sick of seeing the Blackhawks win everything these days.
