Maryland Head Coach Randy Edsall Stormed Out Of His Press Conference After Losing To Ohio State

This season is not going well for Randy Edsall, the head football coach at the University of Maryland. His Terps lost to top-ranked Ohio State on Saturday (no shame in that) and dropped their record to 2-4 on the season. One of those four losses came in a 48-27 pounding at the hands of Bowling Green (plenty of shame in that) and even though Edsall just signed a three-year contract extension this offseason, there have been calls for his firing, and they’ve grown louder with each loss.

At the press conference following the Terps’ defeat to the Buckeyes, Edsall was feeling a little prickly. When a reporter asked, “”Pregame, Randy, you shared handshakes with your guys… Is that something you typically do?”

It wasn’t a particularly incisive question, and it was definitely asked in the context of Edsall’s job perhaps hanging by a thread, but it was still fairly harmless. But it didn’t seem that way to Edsall. Here’s his answer, transcribed:

“Have you been to any of the games since I’ve been the head coach here at the University of Maryland? If you would notice, I do that every single game. Every. Single. Game. Out of the respect that I have for each kid and what they go through. Every. Single. Game.” *storms out to two guys applauding for some reason*

Ladies and gentlemen, joining the ranks of “I’m a man! I’m 40!” and “Playoffs?!” is “Every. Single. Game.” Welcome, Randy.
