Here’s Why The Washington Redskins Are Opening Their Own Restaurant

Are you a fan of the Washington Redskins living in Ashburn, Va. who thinks your local sports bar doesn’t pay enough homage to the gold and red in a way that you deem satisfactory? Well you’re in luck, because opening in late spring will be “Hail Hog Kitchen + Tap,” a Redskins-only themed restaurant right in the center of the city’s downtown district.

The team says that this totally necessary establishment will be a haven for ‘Skins fans who also want to chow down on a “chef-driven menu” or knock back a few beverages from a drink menu that includes “unique hand-crafted cocktails, an extensive wine list, and the best local craft beers.” Via Redskins.com:

Hail Hog will prominently feature the storied Washington Redskins NFL franchise, winners of three NFL Super Bowls and five total league championships since the team’s founding in 1932. The Redskins are an integral part of the D.C. region, and it is a natural fit to open this showcase property near the team’s Loudoun County headquarters in Ashburn, Va.

The name Hail Hog pays homage to the history of the Redskins and their longstanding anthem, “Hail to the Redskins,” along with a tribute to their storied offensive line of the 1980s and early 90s, “the Hogs.”

The press release says the establishment will have two floors with the top floor having wall-to-wall televisions, a rooftop bar, and amenities such as a “big fire pit,” while downstairs will have its own radio and television studio for, presumably, Dan Snyder to control all of the content.

I poke fun, but honestly, this sounds pretty great if you’re a ‘Skins fan living in the area, and it will be the perfect place to watch the team regress to a 6-10 record in 2016.
