After Holly Holm knocked her out with one of the nastiest looking headkicks of the year, Ronda Rousey famously said, “It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact.” Turns out it took four months, as Ronda shows in this video she tweeted.

“This just as of last night,” she says before taking a big bite out of an apple. “No problem. Biting apples again! I’m pretty excited about this.”

That’s good news for Rousey, and Rousey fans waiting to hear when the former women’s champion will return to the Octagon. Now that the apple part is done, she can move onto stress-testing her chin’s ability to take some impact.

But there may also be a hidden message inside Ronda’s video. It seems all but official that New York will drop its longheld ban on mixed martial arts in the state, opening the door for a historic UFC event at Madison Square Garden. The quest for legalization in New York has been long and hard-fought, and the UFC really wants to put on a big show in the Big Apple.

Who better to headline such a card than Ronda Rousey, who’s biting apples again? Not only does that make sense, the timeline to legalize MMA and adopt a framework for the first UFC event in the city lines up perfectly with the UFC’s previously stated October or November return for Rousey. Sad news for those of us hoping beyond hope that she might return for UFC 200. But good news for those okay with waiting until the fall for another massive UFC card.
