The Ronda Rousey And Miesha Tate Interview At The TUF 18 Finale Was An Awkward Masterpiece

I’m not sure if Jon Anik is actually some kind of Borat character and I missed the point of all of this, but his interview with UFC 168 opponents and rival coaches Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate at the Ultimate Fighter 18 finale was a true work of avant-garde sports journalism.

That header image should clue you in to the interview’s content, but there’s so much awkwardness to love. Ronda coldly stating that Miesha Tate peaked years ago. Miesha doing her best beauty pageant smile. Ronda rolling her eyes the entire time and pretending there was a giant man standing just offscreen in the opposite direction. Not to mention this quote from Anik, which might as well have been the chorus of ‘Throw The Jew Down The Well’:

“Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate … we look forward to not your friendship but getting in that Octagon … Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate, ladies and gentleman! Not friends right now and certainly will be adversaries on December 28th.”

What does that even mean? I’m going to start using that line on dates. “Hi, I’m Brandon. I look forward to not your friendship but getting in that bed. Not friends right now.”

Enjoy:

As a bonus, the awkwardness doesn’t stop there. After the show, people who’d previously filmed Rousey acting like she’d rather be somewhere cleaning War Machine’s toilet than having to stand within 1,000 feet of Tate thought it’d be a great idea to bring them back, put them in some chairs and repeatedly ask them how they felt about things.

Ariel won’t let MMA people be crazy, I bet!

UFC 168 is going to be HILARIOUS, you guys.
