Ronda Rousey Is Yahoo’s Most Searched Athlete Of 2015

Yahoo is the preferred search engine of people who are too lazy to change their homepage, so when using it as a barometer of buzz, it’s a bit of a blunt instrument. But it still piques our curiosity to see, in list form, some measure of which athlete gets people talking more than any other. And the top of the list will surprise no one:

Well, would you look at that! Turns out it’s not just Uproxx that can’t stop talking about Ronda Rousey, it’s everyone. A solid half of the top 10 can be explained by men searching for pictures of their favorite female athletes, but Tiger Woods coming in as the top-searched male athlete is a bit strange. He had his worst year as a pro, and is currently recovering (veeeeery slowly) from multiple back surgeries. But hey, the Yahoo crowd probably has a significant overlap with the golf crowd.

Of course, we all know why Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao made the top 10 — their heavily-anticipated dud of a title fight a few months ago. Hope Solo at number 10 is tough to call — sure, she is an attractive woman, but also one who gets in the news a considerable amount, and she did so right on the eve of the Women’s World Cup.

Anyway, even though Lindsey Vonn and Tiger have broken up, at least she has this list to hold over him.
