No One Recognized Shaq When He Went Undercover As A Lyft Driver

Can you imagine requesting a Lyft and being picked up by a professional athlete? The ridesharing company has called on pros like Jerry Rice, Richard Sherman and Danica Patrick to pick up unsuspecting customers in several cities, and this time they selected Shaquille O’Neal to surprise a group of riders in Atlanta.

Like his pro-athlete peers during their Lyft drives, many of the customers acted like they didn’t recognize the seven-foot-tall former basketball great at first. Shaq did don a series of ridiculously hilarious costumes to throw people off, and he even attempted to use Jamaican and French accents to go along with certain outfits.

One of the funniest moments is in the first few seconds of the video when a customer tells him her favorite basketball player is former Laker and Shaq’s rival, Kobe Bryant. Shaq proceeds to get out of the car and throw his hat with its attached curly wig on the ground.

Shaq also makes fun of himself and one of his biggest weaknesses when he played professionally — his free throw percentage (a career average of 52.7 percent.) He taught a rider with long acrylic nails how to hold her hand while shooting a free throw during her ride. Hopefully she’ll watch Game 1 of the NBA Finals Thursday and learn how to shoot better free throws from someone like Steph Curry instead.
